According to the latest news from the Saudi government, the number of tourists from Pakistan has increased by 43% as compared to 2023 with Saudi Arabia being one of the top destinations for Pakistanis. This number is expected to increase to 2.7 million in 2024.
In order to facilitate the visa process for applicants, the Saudi ministry has eased the requirements. The visa process can be initiated from any of the six Tasheer offices located in Quetta, Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Multan.
One can book an appointment using the online Tasheer website prior to visiting the office. The Tasheer offices provide a number of facilities such as application guidance, biometric enrolment and tracking of the passport, thus offering a user friendly and convenient visa process.
The Saudi government has also introduced a transit visa for foreigners to encourage tourism in the kingdom. If you are traveling through Saudi airlines or Flynas, you can get a 96 hours transit visa to explore and enjoy the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Moreover, if you hold a valid US, UK or Schengen visa, then you’re eligible for a visa on arrival as well.
To support Pakistani travellers, last year the Saudi government introduced a multiple entry visa with a validity of one year to allow people to make multiple entries. This step was taken to allow people who travel more frequently for personal or professional reasons. This initiative was intended to increase tourism in the country so that the people could explore the rich culture and heritage of Saudi Arabia. The press release also mentioned that Pakistanis with one year multiple entry visa can also perform Umrah on their trip.
Thus the overall aim of easing the visa requirements is to encourage people to not only visit their friends and family but to fulfill their religious obligations by performing Umrah. In addition to these goals, the easier visa requirements would enhance tourism in the country as Saudi Arabia is a rich cultural destination that is open to tourists all year round.
