Public Holidays in UAE / Dubai / Abu Dhabi

The Ministry of Human Resources on Friday announced a public holiday on the 1st of January for all government employees. This will be the first public holiday for the year 2025. This announcement was made according to the list of public holidays which was shared earlier.

The residents of UAE will be able to enjoy 13 official public holidays in the year 2025. According to the ministry, the holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr will be different and shorter as compared to previous years. Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated after the Holy month of Ramadan. The residents can get up to four days of holiday. The new resolution states that the first three days of the Holy Month of Shawwal as a holiday. If the Holy month of Ramadan has 30 days, the residents would be able to get four days of holiday including the 30th of Ramadan and the three days of Shawwal. However, if the Ramadan lasts for 29 days only, the residents would get only the first three days of Shawwal only as compared to the nine day break for Eid-ul-Fitr in 2024.

Similarly, the residents would be able to enjoy four days off for Eid-ul-Azha as well. The holy day of Arafah will be a holiday as well that falls on the 9th Dhul Hijjah. This with three days of Eid-al-Adha will make a total of four holidays for the residents.

We wish everyone a joyous new year.
