The General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) has launched a new AI-powered digital platform that will allow Dubai residents to renew their resident permits in minutes. The new platform called “Salama” enables the users to update their residency permits in no time, and download a copy of the permit. This step will reduce long waiting times for customers as well as eliminate the paperwork.
The AI powered system identifies the details of the user upon signing in, displaying the details of their dependents visa and the duration to expiry. The user can request a renewal duration through the system which will be processed instantly depending on the correctness of the documents.
Ghaleb Abdullah Mohammed Hassan Al-Majid, Director of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department stated that the launch of the digital platform has reduced time for renewal applications from two to three hours to just minutes. He also mentioned that the first phase of the project applies only to resident visa renewals with plans to implement the second phase for visitor and tourist visas as well as other GDRFA services. Al-Majid also mentioned the plans to extend this service for the business renewal process coupled with smart channel and GDRFA DXP application system.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, General Director of GDRFA Dubai stated the importance of the project as a key milestone towards Dubai government’s commitment towards digital transformation. He mentioned that this step is not merely a customer service but will help to redefine the customer experience and performance of the government bodies. Salama platform reflects Dubai’s commitment to enhance the quality of life for its people through the use of AI.
