In the latest news, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has announced a new date of December 31, to help amnesty seekers adjust their status in the UAE. The violators now have two more months to correct their status inside the UAE.
The change was released to mark UAE’s 53rd Union Day Celebrations. The Director General of ICP, Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili stated that the decision was made in light of the violator’s plea and desires to settle their previous violations in the UAE. The decision is also aimed to help those who wish to settle their status either by leaving the country permanently or changing their employment status to remain in the country legally.
The ministry also shared that the decision was made after making a review of the data received by the service teams across the country in response to the deadline. A huge turnover was observed before the deadline of October 31, 2024. The extended deadline is a chance for the violators to settle their status and receive an exemption from fines or not obtaining a lifetime ban. This initiative reflects the humanitarian aspect of the government of UAE to support people and their families in difficult times.
Moreover, the director emphasized that this will be the last chance for the violators and if they fail to settle their status within the given timeline, the fines would be re-registered. He stressed that the ICP will strengthen its inspection checks on violators in collaboration with government partners and agencies. In this way, strict legal actions will be taken against those who are caught after the extension period of December 31 expires.
